ABOUT
Nick Young is a highly experienced and professional Chartered Surveyor having held senior positions in both the private and public sectors and is well versed in the development process from land identification and acquisition to the practical completion of a construction project.

Having worked for a private property company based in Tunbridge Wells with a focus on retail warehousing, retail motor trade and office developments including the Royal Tunbridge Wells Business and Motor Retail Park, Braeside Developments was set up in 2002 and Braeside Land Limited in 2016. The main activity was the acquisition of a retail site from one of the UK’s major retailers and having brought about a change in policy designation the site was sold to Ward Homes for a new riverside development of 132 homes including retail and fitness facilities.
Following this Nick joined the South East England Development Agency and was responsible for leading the teams delivering the Queenborough and Rushenden Regeneration Scheme which was masterplanned to provide in excess of 1,000 new homes, 2M ft2 of new employment space and new leisure and community facilities. Planning consents were obtained and the primary infrastructure delivered, including a new railway crossing, new highway and utilities network and significant land raising with sites sold for a 600K ft2 distribution centre, Morrisons food store and additional retail, food and beverage and trade park uses. The first phase of housing has also been delivered. Further schemes were also delivered including the acquisition of the Northfleet Embankment East regeneration area which involved the demolition of some 1M ft2 of redundant industrial buildings, extensive flood protection works setting the scene for a new Thames riverside housing scheme of some 532 units. Also a series of initiatives were instigated to assist in the redevelopment of key sites in Dartford town centre.
Since re-starting Braeside Developments in 2016 Nick has been responsible for land acquisitions/sales totalling some £58M with a further £29M of sales under contract. These have included: -
